The ATHX Academy Model
The ATHX program combines 20 years of sports development experience and elite coaching with state-of-the-art technology and innovative training to help our players succeed both on and off the field. The program exists as an outlet for all players to develop their talents and potential.
ATHX Baseball Academy is available to ages 13U/15U/18U. Training is also available to those who are not enrolled in academy programs.
RE/MAX Field is the home field of the ATHX Baseball Academy. All of our Academy programs have the opportunity to practice at RE/MAX.
Our goal at ATHX is to ensure Baseball continues to grow in the City of Edmonton. Not just the passion for the sport, but the level of competition.
Our off-season training and development allows our players to constantly work with coaches to refine their skills and strengths in an environment unlike any other.
All programming is data-backed and tracked to assess continued growth and player-specific needs. Athletic training is based on biomechanics, movement assessments, strength reports via proteus and the use of force plates. Athletes also have access to in-house recovery and injury management to ensure their longevity and continued growth.
AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO THE “TRADITIONAL” MODEL
The way we play the game has changed – the way we train should too. ATHX Baseball Academy’s innovative approach ensures athletes stay at the top of their game while they prepare for the next steps in their baseball career.
The ATHX Baseball Academy program is the only fully integrated development program in the Edmonton area, providing our athletes with baseball skill development, comprehensive strength and conditioning, sports medicine, nutrition support and mental skills coaching.
The Academy prepares athletes for college baseball mentally and physically. Competing with some of the top baseball programs in western Canada; the Academy also travels to The United States to provide players the best opportunity to showcase their ability.
The ATHX Baseball Academy calls RE/MAX Field home. In the heart of the River Valley, RE/MAX Field used to be the home of the Oakland A’s and California Angels Minor League Affiliates. It is also home to our partners The Edmonton Riverhawks, and Edmonton Colligate Hawks. RE/MAX Field has been newly renovated, with a brand-new turf infield and video board in left field.
Training:
- ATHX Baseball is a year-round program that encompasses a full fall game schedule with competitive on field development and instruction.
- Through the winter, players are put through personalized skills and strength training programs.
- Programs are individualized to player-specific needs and areas of growth.
- The off-season has a large emphasis on the weight room and development of baseline strength/speed/power.
- Players have personalized swing design plans as well as throwing programs to promote velocity gains.
Facilities:
ATHX PERFORMANCE:
- ATHX Performance is Edmonton’s top sports training facility and where the Baseball Academy is based out of. Through the winter months, the Academy dives into their off-season strength training and individualized skills plans. The facility to fitted with Kaiser Machines and Proteus, so that athletes are able to train effectively for power production and speed.
RE/MAX FIELD:
- Beautiful RE/MAX Field is where ATHX Baseball calls home. The field is shared with the Edmonton Colligate Hawks throughout the Fall/Spring. RE/MAX has been freshly renovated and upgraded with new turf and a Video Board in left field. Our program is extremely grateful for our partnership with the Edmonton Riverhawks, and the ability to call this stunning stadium in the heart of Edmonton’s River Valley Home.
Technology:
- RE/MAX Field is fitted with Trackman Data Tracking to help assist in player development, as well as provide data for scouts. Trackman is used by nearly every professional team in the world. As a trusted partner, Trackman provides the largest digital scouting platform in the world.
- On the strength side, The Academy utilizes the Protues to accurately quantify strength. Proteus provides constant resistance in all directions in order to accurately measure strength and power through the spectrum of human movement. Additionally, we are able to track and analyze athletes’ test scores through Proteus to accurately track progress. The Gym is fully equipped with Kieser’s science-backed pneumatic resistance systems which produce a purer resistance, consistent and controlled to accommodate for how the human body naturally reacts throughout the entire range of motion.
College Placement:
- We are here to help athletes make it to the next level. We take athlete placement very seriously, making sure they understand the process and the importance of staying on top of connections with coaches throughout the recruiting process. We have partnered with MCN Recruiting so that all of our athletes have more than just us in their corner when it comes to promoting them to college programs.
- MCN Recruiting is here to help maintain the athletes’ profiles, promote them, and help them communicate with college programs.
- MCN Recruiting is a part of the program, it does not require any sort of fee in addition to our program.
